Dragon Ball review/Should you watch it?

Dragon Ball is an anime derived from a Manga(comic) and originated in Japan. Currently there are millions of fans worldwide. Fans appreciate the story line of the series, epic characters and neat animated fights. But is it worthwhile to watch? Where does dragon ball stand amongst other anime series? Who is the target audience? This blog will answer some of these questions and will review dragon ball series from a non-anime fan’s point of view.

Dragon Ball is the story of a child who is from an alien race Saiyans and, he is sent to earth to destroy it, but somehow forgets his mission and ends up becoming a master of Martial Arts and a protector of Earth from evil forces of power. The boy encounters numerous foes and difficulties and each time come out to be stronger and wiser. The dragon ball series is divided into 3 parts, which are – dragon ball, dragon ball Z, dragon ball super. There are also a lot of movies made which does not add up to the main story line and showcases a different adventure. The first episode got aired on 26th February 1986 and this anime proved to be inspiration for other anime creators.

Coming over to the target audience. The manga/comic is made for all, it has some bold fight scenes and nudity at some sections .The anime however focuses more on younger generation which is smaller than 18 years of age, as it is toned down. The colour of blood is changed to transparent to make the fights less intense and nudity is checked.

If you are someone who likes to watch power ups and fighting then maybe you can give it a try. Dragon Ball has 151 episodes, Dragon Ball Z has 291 and super has 131, each of length 19 minutes(which is the standard length of an anime).

There is also a hidden motivation behind the series. The constant urge of Goku and Vegeta to over power themselves, Saiyan’s pride to never fail and try as hard as you can, the potential in us to break our limits and to understand that barriers are just so that we can become a better version of ourselves.

I personally am no such big anime fan, but I personally liked the series and is a good show if you want daily motivation with a 19 minute episode. Anime fans may say that Dragon Ball which aired in 1986 uses poor graphics or Dragon Ball Z stretches fights and episodes unnecessarily which makes it boring to watch, which is true. But overall, this is a good show and is highly recommended to watch.

Well those were my thoughts. Tell me in the comments what do you think of the series!
