Self Control(Atomic Habits 2)

 What is self control? Who are the people who have plenty of will power? What’s different between them and others?

So, Self control is controlling your mind to be focused on your goals and not be deviated by distractions. But, self control is equivalent to forcing your mind, rather than moulding it.

Now, There are people who have become successful in their fields because of strong discipline. But, those are not the people who use a lot of self control and will power. Rather they are the people who avoid forcing their minds.

Our mind gets distracted because we get certain cues or triggers in our environment. example: you are likely to be distracted by phone if you keep it close to you with it’s notifications turned on. You have to consciously think and eradicate your problems in order to achieve something.

Successful people just segregate their working space and relax environment.

So, technically we are the people who use a lot of self control and will power rather than just avoiding the cues.

Both successful and unsuccessful people have same goals. To be rich or to be healthy or to be wise or to be respected but, it is their systems(habits) which differentiate winners and losers.

If you want to leave something or acquire a habit then, don't put too much stress on your brain, just make adjustments in your surroundings and make distractions invisible.
